•How to get organised for 2017•

So, it’s 10 days into the New Year, and it’s about time to get organised! If you’re anything like me, then you love planners, diaries, calendars, and anything that will help you feel more organised for your life. You want to achieve things, get things done, and have some cute pages to look at while you’re doing it. So, here are some tips for getting organised -and inspired- in 2017.

•Buy a diary or planner•

I bought a little diary for myself from Kikki K today, and I absolutely adore it. I knew I wanted a diary because my life is a little all-over-the-place at the moment, and I need it to be more organised. I looked around at the shops, and although I found a lot that look pretty on the outside, the designs on the inside looked dull and grey. However, I’ll spend my time looking at the inside of my diary, checking what I’ve got on or writing things in it, so I wanted it to look good on the inside too. This one is beautiful inside and out, and includes special sections for reflecting or planning for the future and being mindful – it is perfect.

• Sort your clothes •

Getting rid of old clothes and sorting your wearable ones gives you such a refreshing feeling. Over the years, I’ve sorted my clothing by type (shorts, dresses, skirts), colour or style (fancy, going out, casual, beach wear). It definitely does make it easier to choose and less cluttered when you’re trying to find an outfit.

• Make a list of your goals for the year •

This gives you something to work towards and strive for. Once you have a list of goals for your year, you can look at what you need to do to get there and what avenues you may need to go down. It can also be quite inspiring and remind you of what you’re working toward.

• Make daily or weekly lists of your to-do requirements •

Which brings me to this: daily or weekly lists. Now, this may be a bit much for some people, but as I said, if you’re anything like me, you already make these. Actually, in December I did fall out of this joyous  habit a little bit as I had just finished Uni and the regimentality of study. However, now I am loving it again in the New Year, and the best feeling is- of course- ticking things off my lists!

• Do some research! •

Whether you know or not what you want to achieve this year, it is a good idea to get brainstorming with some ideas and then – the important part – do some research! You aren’t going to know what’s out there unless you look. So, whatever it is, whether it’s a new job, career path, or even beginning ballet lessons (à la me a few years back) have a look around and see what might be suitable for you.

• Clean out your house/room •

Having a clean room just feels so good. Change your bed sheets (more than just now in the New Year, mind you, we want to keep our beds sanitary!), vacuum your room, clean out your cupboards and give away things you don’t use or need anymore. I cleaned my cupboards recently and there was a lot of (recyclable) rubbish in there like papers, perfume or candle boxes, old magazines, and needless items that I no longer use. Now that it is fresh, clean and organised, I feel a lot better every time I look inside my cupboard!

And that’s it for my tips on how to get organised in 2017. I hope you enjoyed them and that you are inspired to make the best of your New Year.

  1. Don’t be too scared of technology either Chloe 😛 Tools like Google Keep can be a great tool for keeping track of notes, but it also now allows things like checklists and reminders 😀 I’ve always been terrible at using diaries past week 1 haha (p.s. I don’t work for google :P)
