I have been suffering from bad skin for at least a year now. It is rather bizarre, because you think – ok, I’m no longer a teenager (and as I teenager I didn’t have many spots), I’m fine. This wasn’t the case – I’ve suffered from bad skin predominantly in my early 20’s! I had tried so many different expensive lotions and potions – to no avail.
HOWEVER: I have recently been implementing some changes in my life that have really helped me to turn my skin around. It looks a lot happier and healthier, and although it is still a work in progress, I am looking toward a much clearer-skinned future. So, here is my skincare routine – I hope it will help you with yours!
Ok, so first of all I have been starting with cleansing my skin with the Amie Gently Cleansing Micellar Water. I was gifted a beautiful set of Amie products and the cleanser has been fantastic. You can use it to remove your makeup, to cleanse your skin and to tone- a 3-in-1! It removes makeup really easily (I just use a tissue with it) and then makes your skin feel pleasantly tingly and sparkling clean. It also has a delicious soft rose scent.
Following this, I like to pop on my lovely Dream Cream from Lush as a moisturiser. I know it is technically a body lotion, but it is meant for sensitive skin and Lush are not particularly prescriptive with their products – they encourage you to use them however you want to! It can also help to treat eczema and to cool down hot and damaged skin. I just love the way that it smells and how nice it makes my skin feel. It’s great!
Right before I go to bed, I use the Young Living Purification Essential Oil Blend that I got from Cheryl, a Young Living distributor, Wellness Advocate, Life Coach and my lovely hairdresser! I feel like this has potentially helped to heal my skin the most and made the largest difference in how my skin looks and feels. It contains a combination of oils from plants that have historically been known to calm the skin and rid it of pimples and the like. It has a little round ball applicator so I just roll it on my skin before sleep. When I wake up in the morning, my skin looks fresh, clean and pretty, which makes me happy!
I sometimes use some Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment before bed as well, particularly if my lips are feeling chapped or dry. This just helps to rejuvenate and moisturise them overnight. I have also been using the Amie Deep Pore Exfoliating Polish about once a week, which smells of beautiful mango. I am careful not to use it too often as my skin is quite sensitive, but it has been good so far.
On top of my skincare routine, I have also been avoiding eating sugar and trying to do at least a little bit of exercise every day. This has contributed to the improvements in my skin, and also how healthy I feel.
Yesterday night I attended the Bloggers United Birthday Party at Lush in Rundle Mall, which was absolutely fantastic, very informative and lots of fun. Whilst there, I was lucky enough to get some goodies which I am very excited to try out.
